Matrix Institute on Addictions exists to help those who misuse, abuse or are addicted to alcohol or drugs (prescription or illicit substances) find a way to recovery; to promote a better understanding of addictions, and to improve the quality and availability of addiction treatment services.
MISSION STATEMENT The Matrix Institute is committed to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug use through treatment, education, and research.
Back in 1984 when Matrix Institute on Addictions first opened its doors to patients, no one could have imagined the significant impact we would make in the years ahead. Today, we’re marking 30 years of important milestones in the field of substance abuse treatment – always with an eye toward the next groundbreaking contributions, we can make in the decades ahead.
The Matrix Model Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program includes several key components that complement each other and combine to produce an integrated outpatient treatment experience that works. Critical elements of the program include:
Moreover, the program is characterized by a positive, collaborative and mutually respectful relationship between the patient and therapist that contributes greatly to our high rates of sobriety.
Among its many accolades, the Matrix Model has been acknowledged by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) as an effective and scientifically based approach. In addiction, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has listed the model on its National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP). This prestigious listing was based on the cumulative data from evaluations of the Matrix Model spanning the past 30 years.
In addition to the approximately 21,000 patients Matrix has treated, our staff also has trained more than 6,000 individuals in 50 states and 21 countries to offer the acclaimed Matrix Model Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program.
Training has been conducted for high schools, colleges, mental health professionals, medical facilities, substance abuse treatment programs, managed care organizations, law enforcement agencies, judges, churches, and synagogues. What sets Matrix apart is our ability to tailor topics and materials to meet the specific needs of each respective “audience,” which makes our training sessions uniquely relevant and impactful.
